FAQ

Here are the answers to the questions our community asks the most.

What’s included during the trip?

We take care of the heavy lifting so you can focus on the experience. Your journey includes:

  • Accommodation: All nights in carefully curated 4-5 star hotels or luxury resorts. The accommodation is subject to availability prior the high or low season. But we’ll try our best to assure you to have the best comfort along your journey.
  • Domestic Travel: All internal flights and private transfers during the tour.
  • Experiences: Entry fees for all listed activities, from elephant sanctuaries to boat charters.
  • Meals: Daily breakfast, Welcome and Farewell dinners, and select lunches during full-day tours.
  • Support: Your licensed Thai Tour Guide and Concierge access via WhatsApp.
  • (Not included: International flights, personal travel insurance, alcohol, and personal expenses).

I’m a solo traveller, what should I expect?

You are in good company—most of our guests join solo! You have two choices:

  1. Roommate Match: We pair you with another solo traveller of the same gender to share a twin room (saving you the single supplement).
  2. Private Room: Opt for the “Single Supplement” to have your own private sanctuary throughout the trip. Socially, you’ll never be left out. Our small group format ensures we dine and explore together, so you’ll have a built-in circle of friends from Day 1.

Personal travel insurance

Yes, travel insurance is mandatory to join our trips. This ensures that whether you are hiking in Krabi or exploring a city, you are fully protected in the unlikely event of an accident. We recommend a policy that covers medical evacuation and adventure activities.

What if I don’t want to join the itinerary activities

This is your holiday, not a boot camp. Our philosophy is “Laid-back Luxury,” meaning you always have the freedom to opt out. If you want to sleep in, get a massage, or explore a market on your own while the group visits a temple, just let your guide know. We can even pin a location for you to rejoin us later.

Arriving Early or Staying Longer

Your journey doesn’t have to end when the itinerary does. Whether you want to land early to settle in or you aren’t ready to say goodbye to paradise just yet, we can make it happen. We can easily extend your booking at our partner hotels or craft a custom “mini-trip” for you to explore a new destination (like a private island retreat) after the group tour concludes.

Arrival and departure flight:

Arrival: Please book your arrival flight into Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) in Bangkok.

Departure:

  • For “The Nomad”: Book your departure from Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX).
  • For “The White Lotus”: Book your departure from Samui International Airport (USM).

Note: If you wish to return to Bangkok or other destinations, we can help you coordinate a domestic flight back to connect with your international departure.

Booking Conditions

GUARANTEED DEPARTURES & FORCE MAJEURE

All Pride Wander itineraries operate on guaranteed departures with no minimum group size required. If Pride Wander cancels a tour due to unforeseen events beyond our control (e.g., natural disasters, political unrest, travel restrictions, or pandemics), booked guests will receive full trip credit, minus unrecoverable third-party expenses, applicable toward future travel with no expiration date.

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Deposit: $400 USD per person, due within 7 days of registration to confirm the booking.

Final Balance: Due 90 days prior to the tour start date.

CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING POLICY

To protect operational costs committed to local luxury partners, cancellations or rescheduling requests are subject to the following terms:

180+ days prior to start date: 100% of the deposit is transferable to a future trip.

120–179 days prior to start date: 50% of the deposit is transferable to a future trip.

90–119 days prior to start date: Deposit is non-transferable.

0–89 days prior to start date: All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Note: Pride Wander strongly recommends purchasing comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical coverage, and baggage loss.

ACCOMMODATIONS & ROOMING

Prices are based on double occupancy (twin-share or double bed).

Roommate Matching: Solo travelers who select roommate matching will be paired with another traveler at no extra cost. Specific roommate preferences cannot be guaranteed.

Private Room Upgrade: Solo travelers desiring full privacy may secure a private room by paying a Single Supplement fee (rates vary by itinerary).

PASSPORTS, VISAS & INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS

International Flights: Flights to and from Thailand are not included in the tour package. Guests must arrange their own international airfare.

Travel Documentation: Guests are solely responsible for ensuring their passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the departure date from Thailand and for obtaining any required entry visas.

Pride Wander specializes in small-group luxury experiences. Unless specified otherwise, group sizes are capped at 16 guests plus a dedicated Tour Leader to ensure personalized service and authentic local engagement.

ITINERARY ADJUSTMENTS

Pride Wander reserves the right to make minor adjustments to accommodations, transport, or scheduled activities when operational conditions require. Guests will be informed promptly of any changes. Pride Wander is not liable for major itinerary adjustments forced by Force Majeure circumstances.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Pride Wander maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, abusive behavior, or assault directed toward guests, tour leaders, or local partners. Any guest violating this policy will be removed from the tour immediately without a refund for unused services.

Tips for Thailand

Here’s what nobody tells you about traveling in Thailand!

Visa

For passport holders from the USA, Canada, and many other nations, Thailand currently offers a visa exemption (often 30–60 days) upon arrival. However, immigration rules can change. We strongly recommend checking with your local Thai Embassy or consulate 1–2 months before you fly to ensure you meet the latest entry requirements.

Health and safety

Thailand is generally very safe, but standard travel precautions apply.

  • Vaccines: Check with your doctor for standard tropical travel recommendations (e.g., Tetanus, Hep A).
  • Water: Do not drink tap water. Purified bottled water can be easily bought throughout the trip, and ice in hotels/restaurants is safe.
  • Mosquitoes: Dengue fever exists in tropical zones. We recommend bringing a DEET-based repellent, especially for our island and mountain legs.

Weather and climate

Thailand is tropical and warm year-round.

  • Attire: Pack light, breathable fabrics (linen/cotton).
  • Essentials: Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat are non-negotiable.
  • Rain: Tropical showers can happen anytime, but they usually pass quickly. A light poncho is better than a heavy raincoat.

E-wallet and cash

While credit cards are accepted in malls and hotels, Cash is King for street food, tuk-tuks, and local markets.

  • ATMs: widely available but charge a fee (approx. 220 THB). We suggest withdrawing larger amounts at once to save on fees.
  • PromptPay: Thailand uses a ubiquitous QR-code payment system called “PromptPay.” As tourists and visitors, we recommend using the local E-wallet.

TrueMoney is the most popular local e-wallet (found at every 7-Eleven). It is accessible to foreigners but requires identity verification.

How to use: Download the TrueMoney app.

  • Registration: Select “Foreigner” and scan your passport and face within the app.
  • Funding: You can top up cash at any 7-Eleven counter.
  • Capability: You can scan PromptPay QRs at 7-Eleven, malls, and major shops.
  • Limitation: Similar to the options above, it generally cannot transfer to “Personal” PromptPay numbers (peer-to-peer), only to registered business accounts.

Local transportation: Airport commute, Grab and Bolt application

  • Ride Hailing: Download the Grab or Bolt apps before you arrive. They operate like Uber, offering safe, fixed-price rides (car or bike) and eliminating the need to haggle with taxi drivers.
  • Airport Transfer: For your arrival, you can easily book a Grab/Bolt from the airport or use the official AOT Limousine service. (Private transfers are included during the tour, but arrival/departure to the airport is on your own unless requested as an add-on).

Electricity

Thailand uses 220V electricity. The sockets are typically a “hybrid” design that accepts both:

  • Flat blades (USA style – Type A/B)
  • Round pins (European style – Type C/F)
  • Note: If your device (like a hair trimmer) is 110V only, you will need a voltage converter, or it will overheat.

Stay connected

Staying online is easy and cheap.

  • Sim Cards: You can buy a 5G Tourist SIM card (AIS, True, or DTAC) at the airport upon arrival (approx. $10–$15 USD for unlimited data).
  • eSIM: For convenience, apps like Airalo allow you to install a Thai eSIM before you even land.

Respect the locals

Thai people are renowned for their “Jai Yen” (cool heart) and forgiving nature, but a genuine connection starts with cultural respect. Two pillars are to be concerned: the Monarchy and the Buddhist faith. Always speak with the utmost reverence regarding the Royal Family, as this is a vital cultural and legal standard. However, the younger generation might be more open-minded on this matter.

When visiting temples, ensure your shoulders are covered, and always remove your shoes before entering. Mind your feet—never point them at people or Buddha images, as they are considered the lowest part of the body. Finally, maintain a calm, polite demeanour; public outbursts are considered a “loss of face.”

Local food

Be adventurous! Thai food is a harmony of Sweet, Sour, Salty, and Spicy.

  • Spice Level: “Mai Phet” means “No Spicy,” but “Phet Nit Noi” (Little Spicy) is usually tastier.
  • Street Food: It is the soul of Thailand. Look for stalls with long lines of locals—that is your safety seal of approval. Do not leave without trying Khao Soi in Chiang Mai or Moo Ping (grilled pork) on the street.
